  • New Director appointed for the Parola Armour Museum.

The Board of the Armour Museum Foundation (Panssarimuseosäätiö) has appointed Henrik Järvinen, Master of Arts, as the new Director of the Parola Armour Museum. He will take up his post on January 1, 2027. The onboarding process will begin in late 2026.

The selection of a new director became topical as the current museum director, Simo Hautala, retires. This leadership transition takes place at a stage where the Parola Armour Museum's operations are being further developed, taking into account both its strong heritage and future audiences.

Henrik Järvinen currently works as a researcher and deputy museum director at Museo Militaria in Hämeenlinna. He holds a Master of Arts degree with a major in history, and has also completed basic studies in museology.

In making its decision, the Board emphasized expertise in the museum sector, knowledge of military history contents, development capabilities, and readiness to operate within a broad network of stakeholders. Järvinen has extensive experience in exhibition, collection, and research work, as well as a proven track record in museum development projects.

During the recruitment process, Järvinen's specific strengths were assessed to be his strong practical expertise in museum work, excellent knowledge of the military museum field, extensive cooperation networks, and a good understanding of the Parola Armour Museum's operating environment.

"Henrik Järvinen combines strong expertise in the museum sector, deep expertise in military history, and a vision for the future development of the Parola Armour Museum. The Board was convinced of his ability to renew the museum's operations while respecting its strong traditions. We believe he has excellent capabilities to lead the Parola Armour Museum into its next development phase and to strengthen its position as a nationally significant military history museum and event center. At the same time, as Chair of the Board, I would like to thank Simo Hautala for his highly meritorious and long-term work for the benefit of the Parola Armor Museum. Under his leadership, the museum has significantly strengthened its position in preserving and presenting the cultural heritage of the armored and anti-tank troops," says Jaana Järvenselkä, Chair of the Board.

"The Parola Armor Museum is a significant museum for Finnish military history and the tradition of the armored troops. It is a great honor to have the opportunity to lead the museum and participate in developing its operations together with the staff, volunteers, and partners," says Henrik Järvinen.

The Parola Armor Museum preserves and presents the cultural heritage of Finnish armored and anti-tank troops. The museum serves as a meeting place for audiences interested in history, technology, and national defense.
